In Western culture, problems exist because freedom is given without responsibility. In cultures with less or no storm and stress, freedom is associated with responsibility. Capitalism, devices use and social media, laws, policies, and the pharmaceutical industry are also major factors in the turbulence.
Research shows that when negative stereotypes of adolescents are countered and challenged in schools, academic motivation and achievement is increased and risky behaviours are decreased. Programs countering these stereotypes have already been developed and tried with success! There is reason to hope.
